Dr. Jeremy Sperling
Dr. Jeremy Sperlinghas been named the Chair of Emergency Medicine at North Bronx Healthcare Network (NBHN).
Dr. Sperling was most recently Associate Director of Emergency Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell and Assistant Director of the New York Presbyterian Emergency Medicine Residency Program, a bi-campus program of Cornell and Columbia.
Dr. Sperling has deep experience in resident and medical student education. At New York Presbyterian, he was director of the popular airway and high-risk procedure course for NYP emergency medicine residents. He has also lectured on airway and trauma issues around the world, including in India, Sri Lanka, and Qatar. He has received multiple teaching awards, including the 2009 American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) National Emergency Medicine Faculty Teaching Award and three Weill Cornell Medical College Excellence in Teaching Awards.
Dr. Sperling also has extensive Emergency Department operations experience working at both New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell and Lower Manhattan. He is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and serves as an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Michael Meguerdichian
Dr. Michael Meguerdichian has been appointed the Medical Simulation Director in the Emergency Medicine Department at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem.
Dr. Meguerdichian most recently served as the Residency Program Director for the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Simulation Education Director at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York.
During his tenure at Brooklyn Hospital, Dr. Meguerdichian instituted various changes in the residency program, most notably in medical simulation. He organized the simulation mini-fellowship curriculum. One of Dr. Meguerdichian’s greatest accomplishments was to change the residency training to accommodate the millennial adults in the program, emphasizing Free Open Access Meducation (FOAM), collaborative learning, and small group learning. He designed education modules that targeted clinical knowledge gaps within training, and facilitated a curriculum change to define resident responsibilities for each training year with concentrated specialties, such as Pathology and Physiology for 1st and 2nd years and ED patient flow management for 3rd years.
Prior to his tenure at Brooklyn Hospital, Dr. Meguerdichian was the Attending Physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. During much of that time, Dr. Meguerdichian also served as the facilitator for the Institute of Medical Simulation and Advanced Learning, delivering medical simulation courses to 11 hospitals within the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.

Dr. Fay Rim
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Fay Rim has been named Director of Palliative Care at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan.
Dr. Fay Rim is currently the acting chief of the Department of Pain and Palliative Medicine at Metropolitan Hospital. She is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, pain medicine, and hospice and palliative care. She also serves as the New York Medical College Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Director and is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York Medical College.
Dr. Rim received her bachelor’s degree in biology from MIT and her medical degree in 2002 from New York Medical College. She did her internship at Westchester Medical Center, residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center and completed her fellowship in pain and palliative care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2007. She had worked in private practice and the James J. Peters VA Medical Center prior to joining Metropolitan Hospital.
