Five PAGNY doctors have been honored by the Harlem Fine Arts Show (HFAS) for their professional excellence, their contributions to the field of medicine and their efforts to groom the next generation of medical professionals.

The Harlem Fine Arts Show is a multi-city traveling exhibition of contemporary paintings, sculpture and photography featuring art from the African Diaspora. This year’s theme, “The Health and Healing Power of Art,” celebrates African-American medical professionals and seeks to raise awareness about medicine as a career choice for young people.

The honorees were:

Dr. Lisa Ross, MBA

Dr. Lisa Ross, MBA, Director of the Department of Anesthesiology at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem. Dr. Ross is a member of the Muriel Petioni Women Chiefs’ Council of Harlem Hospital and an organizer of their annual “Go Red for Women” event to raise awareness among women about heart disease. In 2014, she was awarded the Dr. Muriel Petioni Distinguished Healer Award by the Friends of Harlem Hospital.

Dr. Rawle F. Philbert, FACD

Dr. Rawle F. Philbert, FACD, Chairman of the Department of Dentistry/Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at NYS Health + Hospitals/Lincoln and the Director of Dental Services at the two satellite clinics of Morrisania and Belvis Diagnostic and Treatment Centers. Dr. Philbert is also the Program Director of the four-year Lincoln Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency training program.

Dr. Camille A. Clare, MPH, CPE, FACOG

Dr. Camille A. Clare, MPH, CPE, FACOG Attending Physician, NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Medical College and a Board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Dr. Clare is also the Director of Resident Research and the Interim Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion at New York Medical College.

Dr. Chinyere Anyaogu, MPH, FACOB

Dr. Chinyere Anyaogu, MPH, FACOB, Vice Chair of the Department of OB/GYN, NYC Health + Hospitals/ North Central Bronx and an Assistant Professor at the Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Reba Williams

Dr. Reba Williams, Medical Director of Renaissance Health Care Network. Previously, Dr. Williams was Senior Director in the Division of Medical and Professional Affairs at New York City Health + Hospitals, where she coordinated corporate wide quality initiatives in the Office of Healthcare Improvement. Dr. Williams was also the corporate clinical sponsor for NYC Health + Hospitals Chronic Disease Guidelines, which included diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, depression and heart failure, and coordinated the development of disease management registries for diabetes and cardiovascular risks.

The PAGNY honorees were among 16 African-American medical professionals honored by the HFAS at its Opening Night Preview on Feb. 16th at the historic Riverside Church in Harlem.

“Research shows that a variety of creative engagements (the arts) can positively impact emotions, attitudes and beliefs, contributing to greater health and wellness for the individual,” said Dion Clarke, founder of the HFAS. “We are making a concerted effort to salute the heroes who help our community on a day-to-day basis. This year’s recognition of the ‘health and healing power of art’ is a reminder of how art permeates and enhances all aspects of our lives.”
