In honor of the American Medical Association’s Women in Medicine Month, PAGNY celebrates Dr. Michelle Stern, Chair of the Arthur S. Abramson Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx Hospital.
Dr. Stern earned her undergraduate degree and MD from SUNY Stony Brook. She completed her internship in internal medicine at the same institution, and completed residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York University.
Read about Dr. Stern’s choice to pursue a career in inpatient physiatry and her experience with PAGNY and NYC Health + Hospitals:
“I planned on a career in medicine for the opportunity to be able to help and care for people. I went into inpatient physiatry to have the experience of being part of the team to help care for people as they are recovering from a new medical illness that has affected their previous level of function.”
Dr. Stern’s commitment to help patients recovering from illness exemplifies PAGNY’s mission to deliver exceptional patient-centered care to vulnerable communities in New York City. Thank you, Dr. Stern, for your expert care and compassion!
