Clinical Responsibilities
- Deliver direct inpatient and outpatient gastrointestinal care
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
- Perform diagnostic tests (e.g., blood tests, stool tests, imaging) to identify causes of symptoms
- Provide care for patients with chronic diseases (e.g., diabetes, hypertension) to manage complications
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, diet, and nutrition; refer to dietitians as appropriate
- Maintain accurate medical records, ensure confidentiality, and comply with regulatory standards
Procedural Expertise
- Perform a wide range of endoscopic procedures, including:
- Colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopies, gastroscopies, upper endoscopies, duodenoscopies
- Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) diagnostic and therapeutic and Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS/FNA)
- Capsule endoscopy and advanced endoscopic techniques
- Surgery for polyp removal or other abnormalities in the colon/rectum
Academic & Teaching
- Hold academic appointments at affiliated medical schools and serve as faculty within the GI division
