Description

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a per diem Psychiatrist - CPEP to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. Jacobi Medical Center is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center. To this day, Jacobi remains a respected leader in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, burn care, pediatrics, primary care, and women’s health. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein College of Medicine to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards.

Our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) is a state of the art emergency psychiatry service. The CPEP provides a spectrum of multidisciplinary services designed to meet the needs of our diverse clientele in the most effective and least restrictive manner possible. Our 11,000 square-foot modern service includes separate pediatric and adult waiting areas, patient interview rooms, a patient holding area, and six extended observation beds. The Jacobi CPEP has approximately 700 registrations per month and has an embedded Mobile Crisis Team that makes up to 75 visits per month. Because the Behavioral Healthcare Services Department of Jacobi has large Inpatient, Outpatient, and Addiction Services, the patients evaluated in our CPEP are mostly then treated within our continuum of care.

Opportunity Details:

  • Responsible for the overall functioning and clinical/administrative coverage of the CPEP.
  • Initiate treatment for acute and chronic psychiatric and medical illnesses.
  • Conduct physical rounds of all units at start of each shift during call to determine bed availability in coordination with ADN.
  • Respond to all requests for psychiatric support in the management of agitated patients on any service in the BH service.
  • Supervise nurses, social workers, physician assistants, students, and others participating in the care of patients.
  • Complete comprehensive assessments and treatment plans.
  • Coordinate disposition planning in conjunction with Social Work and Physician Assistant staff.
  • Document incidents in conjunction with other members of the treatment team.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Active New York State Medical License.

Per Diem Rates:

  • $200 per hour for weekdays*
  • $225 per hour for weekends and holidays*
