The hospital is academically affiliated with SUNY Downstate Medical Center and trains their medical students and Neurology residents.

 

HH Kings County has recently opened a Neuroscience Center and offers state of the art care for: Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Neuroimmunology including Multiple Sclerosis, and Stroke. In addition, we have expert Neurosurgical Services, Neuro Critical Care, Interventional Neuroradiology, Neuroradiology, and Neuro Rehabilitation. Our Stroke Center is accredited as Thrombectomy Capable by The Joint Commission.  Our Epilepsy Center has achieved Level 2 accreditation by National Association for Accredited Epilepsy Centers criteria. Kings County runs EEG and EMG Laboratories and offers the ketogenic diet.

 

Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being Afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities

Purpose of position: 

 

To provide Epilepsy EEG attending staffing to enable us to expand the Epilepsy Service at HH Kings County as part of the Kings County Neuroscience Center.  To augment attending staffing on the General Neurology inpatient and outpatient services as an Adult Neurologist.

 

  • Evaluate and manage patients in the Epilepsy Outpatient Practice
  • Interpret Electroencephalograms (EEGs) and document in the EMR
  • Evaluate and manage patients on the General Neurology Inpatient Service and in General Neurology Outpatient Practices.
  • Participate in the quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) activities of the Neurology Service.
  • Supervise and teach Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows. Participate in the educational activities of the Neurology Service.
  • Attend and participate in Neurology Service Faculty meetings.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Adult Neurology

  • Board Eligible in Epilepsy or Clinical Neurophysiology

  • Medical School

  • Completion of Adult Neurology Residency

  • Completion of Epilepsy or EEG Fellowship

 

Preferred:

 

Two years of clinical experience
