Dear Colleague,

Happy International Day of the Midwife!

I wanted to take the time today to specially acknowledge all that our dedicated PAGNY midwives do every day to care for mothers, children, and families in New York. The vital and unique role you play in a pregnant woman's care make you an integral part of our OB-GYN Departments. It is no wonder why the World Health Organization declared 2020 the Year of the Nurse and Midwife. Even in the best of times, you may the best or only point of contact between women and the health care system at a time when they are particularly vulnerable. During this unprecedented crisis, you are on the front-lines. As if your normal operations were not enough, now your calming presence and capable hands are guiding new and expanding families through an especially scary and emotional time.

We will not forget the tremendous job you are all doing and we look forward to celebrating as you deserve when we have the opportunity. In the meantime, today is a wonderful day to recognize and thank you for all your hard work. We are so happy and proud to have you as part of PAGNY.

Thank you!
