The hospital is academically affiliated with SUNY Downstate Medical Center.





  • The Pediatric Trauma Program Manager is responsible for designing and managing the implementation, operations, and evaluation of strategic programs or functions within Kings County Hospital to improve the clinical and operational outcomes associated with the pediatric trauma population's care.The responsibilities include designing communication to internal and external stakeholders, coordinating reports and statistics to improve programmatic performance. The Pediatric Trauma Program Manager analyzes and researches programs and drafts business plans as needed. Additionally,the incumbent completes and oversees external awards applications,including but not limited to verification for pediatric trauma program by the American College of Surgeons. 
  • To assist in the planning,developing,implementation,and on-going direction of the trauma program, the Pediatric Trauma Program Manager will work collaboratively with the Trauma Medical Director, Adult Trauma Program Manager, Trauma Panel Liaisons to develop and monitor medical care policies/procedures pertaining to trauma patients, the Program's Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) activities, including review of pediatric trauma care across the continuum,case-finding, formulating performance improvement plans, and monitoring compliance with performance improvement plans.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the Peds Trauma Program's injury prevention and outreach strategies to reduce the burden of injury in our community,and support the Trauma Program. Maintain compliance with the NYS Department of Health - Bureau of Emergency Medical Services,American College of Surgeons - Committee on Trauma and National Trauma Data Standards for the maintenance of the Trauma Registry. 



Provide a proactive vision of needed activities to encourage PIPS maturity.

Encourage and foster the Trauma Service in meeting its responsibility in providing optimal outcomes for the injured pediatric patient.

Provide support to the trauma registry database by maintaining the validation process's oversite, evaluating the quality and effic iency of data abstract ion,and encouraging continuing education among the registrars.

Ensuring multidisciplinary trauma performance improvement ,ensuring the program executes the authority to evaluate care across disciplines, identify opportunities for improvement,and implementation of corrective action plans.

Collaborate with TMD to assume overall responsibility and accountabi lity of the PIPS process, reviewingthe quality of care for traumat ically injured pediatric patients during all phases of their hospitalvisit.

Review PIPS abstracts for inclusion in the Trauma Peer Review process,based on guidelines from the ACS-COT,includingthe ident ification of all injuries, procedures, complications and

Assist with data cleaning and inter/ intra-rater reliability activities.

Monitor and document compliance with Trauma Program audit filters and performance improvement plans.

Trauma Peer review and Operational PIPS meetings:

Conduct focused reviews of specific audit filters,patient outcomes, complications,and financials,as needed. 

Injury prevention:

Coordinate and collaborate with local public health agencies, private organizations,and the general public to raise awareness about the predictability and preventability of injuries. Advance the knowledge of injury prevention through publications and presentations .

Develop and implement multi-faceted injury prevention activities targeted at at-risk populations  

Disseminate injury prevention materials through local and statewide networks to enhance public education and awareness about injury prevention.

When available, develop plans to distribute life-saving products to those in need within the community 

Represent the Trauma Program at meetings of the STAC and RTAC





  • Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant ( all levels) experience required 
  • ACLS life support certification or eligible to obtain
  • Post-graduate (Masters degree) preferre
  • Three years of clinical and leadership experience in at least one of the   following :trauma, critical care,emergency or operating room recovery
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required prior to hire
