NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County maintains close relationships with NYC Health + Hospitals’ diagnostic, post-acute, and long-term care centers. The hospital is academically affiliated with SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Pediatric Trauma Program Manager is responsible for designing and managing the implementation,operations, and evaluation of strategic programs or functions within Kings County Hospital to improve theclinical and operational outcomes associated with the pediatric trauma population's care.Theresponsibilities include designing communication to internal and external stakeholders, coordinatingreports and statistics to improve programmatic performance. The Pediatric Trauma Program Manageranalyzes and researches programs and drafts business plans as needed. Additionally,the incumbentcompletes and oversees external awards applications,including but not limited to verification for pediatrictrauma programby the American College of Surgeons.
To assist in the planning,developing,implementation,and on-going direction of the trauma program, thePediatricTrauma Program Manager will work collaboratively with the Trauma Medical Director, AdultTrauma Program Manager, Trauma Panel Liaisonsto develop and monitor medical carepolicies/procedurespertaining to trauma patients, theProgram's Performance Improvement and PatientSafety (PIPS) activities, including review of pediatric trauma care across the continuum,case-finding,formulating performance improvement plans, and monitoring compliance with performance improvement plans.
Provide leadership and direction for the Peds Trauma Program's injury preventionand outreach strategies to reduce the burden of injury in our community,and support the TraumaProgram. Maintain compliance with the NYS Department of Health - Bureau of Emergency MedicalServices,American College of Surgeons - Committeeon Trauma and NationalTrauma Data Standards forthe maintenance of the Trauma Registry.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITI ES
Provide a proactive vision of needed activities to encourage PIPS maturity.
Encourage and foster the Trauma Service in meeting its responsibility in providing optimaloutcomes for the injured pediatric patient.
Provide support to the trauma registry database by maintaining the validation process'soversite, evaluating the quality and effic iencyof data abstract ion,and encouraging continuing education among the registrars.
Ensuring multidisciplinary trauma performance improvement ,ensuring the program executesthe authority to evaluate care across disciplines, identify opportunities for improvement,and implementation of corrective action plans.
Collaborate with TMD to assume overall responsibility and accountabi lity of the PIPS process,reviewingthe quality of care for traumat ically injured pediatric patients during all phases of theirhospitalvisit.
Review PIPS abstracts for inclusion in the Trauma Peer Review process,based on guidelines from the ACS-COT,includingthe ident ification of all injuries, procedures, complicationsand
Assist with data cleaning and inter/ intra-rater reliability activities.
Monitorand document compliance with Trauma Programauditfiltersandperformance improvement plans.
Trauma Peer review and Operational PIPS meetings:
Conduct focused reviews of specific audit filters,patient outcomes, complications,andfinancials,asneeded.
Coordinate and collaborate with local public health agencies, private organizations,and the general public to raise awareness about the predictability and preventability of injuries.Advance the knowledge of injury prevention through publications and presentations .
Develop and implement multi-faceted injury prevention activities targeted at at-riskpopulations
Disseminate injury prevention materials through local and statewide networks to enhancepublic education and awareness about injury prevention.
When available, develop plans to distribute life-saving products to those in need within the community
Represent the Trauma Program at meetings of the STAC and RTAC
Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant ( all levels) experience required
ACLS life support certification or eligible to obtain
Post-graduate (Masters degree) preferre
Three years of clinical and leadership experience inat least one of the following :trauma, critical care,emergency or operating room recovery
Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required prior to hire
