Overview
Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding an Associate Chair Emergency Medicine to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health. The Hospital is part of NYC Health + Hospitals. South Brooklyn Health is a redesigned health care campus featuring the new 11-floor Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital which provides emergency care, modern labor & delivery suites, and state-of-the-art surgical services. The new Health & Wellness Institute offers outpatient services—from primary and preventive care to specialty services for children and adults—all designed to keep our community healthy and accommodates more than 250,000 outpatient visits, more than 89,000 emergency room visits, and with 371 beds, more than 15,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.

Opportunity Details
We have an immediate opening for a full-time Associate Chairperson to join our Emergency Department:
Responsibilities:
- Work with appropriate medical leadership and provide clinical direction to direct reports to set patient care standards, establish clinical goals and objects to ensure the strategic implementation of best practices and program development in their respective disciplines.
- Provide clinical administrative guidance and consultative direction to medical staff within their respective division.
- Engage in strategic planning with hospital executive and clinical leadership to develop programming within their respective discipline which aligns with overall hospital strategic plan.
- Develop and collect performance metrics which the facility may utilize to plan, implement or quality patient care programs.
- Ensure effective transparent communication with clinical and operational leadership to ensure effective delivery of services within the division.
- Ensure the regular and appropriate assessment of physician competency and intervene and remediate as appropriate.
- Plans joint programs and procedures with other departments for coordinating services with other patient care services.
- Participates in the Department's Quality Assessment and Improvement Committee.
- Acts as direct supervisor and consultant for all staff assigned to Services.
- Knowledge of Patient Safety Requirements.
- Participates in medical educational meetings to improve and provide continuous quality care to our patients.
- Determines the qualifications and competence of department personnel who perform medical/surgical Services.
- Establishes mechanisms for orientating and providing in-service training and continuing education for all persons in Division.
- Provides direct patient care as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an emergency medicine residency training program accredited by either ACGME or American Board of Osteopathic Medicine
- Active Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or ABEOM)
- Active, unrestricted NYS License
- Minimum 5 years of clinical practice
- Minimum 5 years experience in a clinical supervisory role
- Experience attending to an under-served population preferred
